Montreal Market Melon
The Montreal melon used to be sell for one or two dollars a slice which to today's equivalent is something like 35 bucks a slice in New York and other big cities of the north east. A very much a luxury food with a high price tag for those lucky enough to afford one — or even a slice in 1907!
The Montreal melon has quite a rich history of cultivation. It was grown along the St. Lawrence River in the 1800s, including in the fertile farmlands of the city. As the city grew and swallowed up nearby farmland, this variety slowly vanished. it was thought to be completely disappear until re-discovered in the 1990s.Today ,It is still a very rare melon and not cultivated on a large scale.

We're so happy to bring back this incredibly flavorful variety, grow successfully on our own farm! An exquisite and historic melon!
